Senator Sharafadeen Alli has officially received the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination form as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 general election in Oyo State. The event took place on Thursday and marked a significant step in the party’s preparations for the upcoming polls. At the ceremony, Alli also unveiled Michael Adedeji, a 46-year-old Economics graduate from Obafemi Awolowo University, as his running mate for the election. Adedeji hails from Iwo-Ate in Ogo Oluwa Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The APC State Chairman and former deputy governor, Moses Alake Adeyemo, addressed the gathering, urging party members to remain united and work collectively toward reclaiming power in the 2027 governorship election. He emphasized that the APC has a stronger chance of advancing Oyo State’s development when in government and called on aggrieved members to set aside their differences for the party’s greater good. “By the grace of God, come May 29, 2027, our governor and deputy governor will be Senator Sharafadeen Alli and Adesoji Adedeji. I plead with us in the name of the Lord to come together,” Adeyemo said.
Gbenga Olayemi, APC Deputy National Auditor, presented the INEC nomination form to Alli and described him not just as a candidate, but as a symbol of the party’s collective aspiration. “You will recall that I presented the nomination forms to National Assembly candidates on Monday. Senator Alli is not just our governorship candidate; he is our flag bearer. Every APC member in Oyo State is a governorship candidate,” Olayemi stated, highlighting the party’s unity and shared purpose.
In his acceptance speech, Alli celebrated his emergence as a victory for all APC members. He pledged to govern with fairness, accountability, and inclusiveness if elected, and expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, the APC National Working Committee, state party leaders, security agencies, and party supporters for their backing during the primary process. He also acknowledged the contributions of other aspirants and urged them and their supporters to rally behind the APC for the 2027 election.
Alli stressed that reclaiming Oyo State requires unity, sacrifice, and collective commitment. “Our people are yearning for leadership that listens, unites and understands their pains. They deserve a government that works for everyone, regardless of religion, ethnicity, social class or geopolitical zone,” he said. He outlined plans to prioritize agriculture, youth empowerment, education, healthcare, infrastructure, environmental protection, and inclusive economic growth. He also pledged to align his administration with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on justice, fairness, accountability, and service delivery.
Adedeji, in his remarks, thanked the APC leadership for the confidence placed in him and expressed optimism about the party’s victory in the 2027 governorship election. The event was attended by key APC figures, including Ayo Adeseun, Hosea Agboola, Femi Lanlehin, Fatai Ibikunle, Timothy Jolaoso, and Olayide Abbas, among others. As the APC gears up for the 2027 election, the party’s leadership and candidates are rallying behind a message of unity and shared purpose to restore Oyo State’s former glory.
