The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) has raised serious concerns over President Bola Tinubu’s extended absence from Nigeria, demanding full transparency from the Presidency six days after his originally announced three-week vacation expired. The ADC PCC insists that Nigerians have a right to know the president’s whereabouts and who is making critical decisions in his absence, especially amid ongoing economic hardship and security challenges.
In a statement issued by Kola Ologbondiyan, Director of Media and Publicity for the ADC PCC, the group called on the Presidency to provide clear and detailed information about the reasons for the prolonged stay abroad. The statement emphasized that the office of the President is a public trust, and citizens who elected Tinubu are entitled to accountability and openness regarding his movements and responsibilities.
The ADC PCC noted that the lack of official updates on the President’s location and the circumstances surrounding the extension of his trip has fueled public speculation and concern. With Nigeria grappling with inflation, rising unemployment, and insecurity in several regions, the campaign council stressed that uncertainty at the top of government could undermine national stability and public confidence.
“Nigerians are not just concerned about where their president is, but more importantly, who is exercising presidential authority while he remains outside the country,” the statement read.
