Supporters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Anka and Talata Mafara Local Government Areas of Zamfara State have raised serious concerns over alleged manipulation of party membership records and card numbers ahead of upcoming internal political activities. The warning was issued on Wednesday in Gusau by Nura Rabiu Cibiki, Director of Media and Strategy for the Campaign and Mobilisation Committee of Abdulrahaman Yahaya, who is seeking the House of Representatives seat for the Anka/Talata Mafara Federal Constituency. The group insists that any attempt to alter or duplicate legitimate membership data will undermine the party’s credibility and deepen existing tensions within the constituency.
Cibiki’s statement emphasized that ADC members in the two local government areas are fully aware of the party’s authentic membership strength and are ready to defend the integrity of their records. The supporters stressed that such fraudulent activities could distort the outcome of internal party processes and erode trust among members. They warned that tampering with membership figures is not only unethical but also a direct threat to the party’s democratic principles and organizational structure.
The statement further declared that while justice may be delayed, the truth cannot be denied. This sentiment reflects the growing frustration among party members who believe that transparent and fair processes are essential for a healthy political environment. The ADC, like other political parties in Nigeria, relies heavily on accurate membership data to ensure fair representation and electoral legitimacy.
In a related development, Abdulrahaman Yahaya has taken legal action by filing a suit at the Federal High Court in Gusau. The case challenges alleged irregularities in the party’s primary election process for the Anka/Talata Mafara Federal Constituency. The court has scheduled a mention of the case for June 23, 2026, giving all parties involved time to prepare their submissions and evidence.
This legal move underscores the seriousness with which Yahaya and his supporters view the integrity of the party’s internal elections. It also highlights the increasing use of the judiciary to resolve disputes within Nigerian political parties, especially as elections draw near. The outcome of this case could set a precedent for how membership disputes and electoral irregularities are handled in the ADC and other parties.
As the 2027 general elections approach, the ADC in Zamfara State faces mounting pressure to ensure transparency and fairness in its internal processes. The allegations of membership manipulation and the ongoing court case signal a critical moment for the party’s leadership to reaffirm its commitment to democratic values. The resolution of this matter will likely influence voter confidence and party cohesion in the region.
