Nigerian troops from Sector 2 have conducted a successful raid on suspected terrorist hideouts in Gumki, Arewa Dandi Local Government Area of Kebbi State, forcing insurgents to flee toward the Nigeria-Niger border. The operation, launched in the early hours of September 14, 2026, targeted known camps following intelligence reports indicating the presence of armed terrorists in the area. Security forces from 1 Battalion swiftly moved into the region and engaged the suspects in a fierce gun battle. According to security sources cited by Zagazola Makama, a seasoned security expert, the troops capitalized on the enemy’s withdrawal to secure the site and recover critical arms and equipment. Among the seized items were one AK-47 rifle with an additional magazine, one PKT machine-gun magazine, 187 rounds of 7.62mm x 54 PKT ammunition, and 14 rounds of 7.62mm x 39mm special ammunition. These weapons are commonly used by insurgent groups operating in the North-West and North-East regions of Nigeria. In addition to firearms and ammunition, the military recovered four motorcycles, two mobile phones, combat kits, assorted charms believed to be used for spiritual protection, and a sum of ₦87,000 in cash.
