Nigerian Labour Leader Domingo Adeleke Dies During ILC Conference in Switzerland

In a show of solidarity, members of the NLC leadership visited the hospital in Annemasse, France, where Mr Adeleke’s body was being kept. The visit was aimed at paying respects to the deceased and initiating arrangements for the repatriation of his remains to Nigeria. Tributes have poured in from labour leaders, colleagues, and workers, who remember him as a courageous advocate for social dialogue and workers’ rights.

The NLC extended its condolences to Mr Adeleke’s family, colleagues, and the wider labour movement, describing his death as a significant loss to organised labour in Nigeria. His passing serves as a reminder of the vital role trade unionists play in safeguarding workers’ interests, both locally and internationally. As Nigeria continues its participation in the ILC, the memory of Comrade Adeleke’s unwavering commitment will remain a source of inspiration for future generations of labour leaders.
