Wikes Aide Slams VDM Over Allegations Against Rivers APC Guber Candidate Chinda [VIDEO]

Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has strongly criticized social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), for linking Rivers State All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate Kingsley Chinda to alleged land grabbing in Abuja. In a video posted on his Facebook page on Friday, VDM revisited a December 11, 2024, claim that Wike had unlawfully revoked land in the Life Camp area of the FCT and allocated it to his relatives, including Chinda, who is now the APC’s candidate for the 2027 Rivers State governorship election.

VDM, who refers to himself as the “online police,” accused Wike of orchestrating the land grab and singled out Chinda as a key beneficiary. “Wike woke up one morning and said he had revoked it. One of those who has a big share in the whole of this thing is the Minority Leader in the House of Representatives in the name of Kingsley Chinda,” VDM stated in the video. He further expressed concern over Chinda’s political rise, saying, “This same Chinda? Rivers State is finished,” implying that the candidate’s alleged involvement in the land matter could undermine the state’s future.

In response, Lere Olayinka dismissed VDM’s claims as baseless and misleading. He described the social media critic as a “very dull man” and accused him of spreading misinformation for personal gain. “He was everywhere then, advertising his ignorance after he must have collected money from the supposed owner of the property,” Lere wrote on Facebook. He emphasized that VDM and his alleged backers fell silent when evidence emerged showing the land in question had never been officially allocated to the claimant.

Lere also pointed out that instead of retracting his claims or apologizing for misleading the public, VDM chose to ignore the facts and moved on to other issues. “Instead of Very Dull Man to apologise for misleading the public, he simply went dumb, moved on to other issues and continued with his game,” Lere added, highlighting what he sees as a pattern of dishonesty in VDM’s online activities.

The controversy has drawn attention to the growing influence of social media personalities in Nigerian politics, particularly during election seasons. As the 2027 gubernatorial race in Rivers State heats up, figures like Chinda and Wike remain under intense public scrutiny. The land dispute, whether factual or fabricated, continues to fuel political narratives across platforms. The outcome of this digital clash may influence public perception and voter behavior in the coming elections.
