Operatives of the Edo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested a man identified as Esosa Godsent Osagie for allegedly stealing approximately 60 litres of diesel from a telecommunications facility in Utesi, a town on the outskirts of Benin City. The arrest took place on June 13, 2026, following intelligence reports of recurring thefts at the IHS Towers facility. The suspect was apprehended during a joint operation involving NSCDC security personnel and local vigilante groups, demonstrating a coordinated effort to combat crime in critical infrastructure zones.
Efosa Ogbebor, the Public Relations Officer of the Edo State NSCDC Command, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Monday, June 15, 2026.
