A man identified as Abubakar Abdullahi, popularly known as “Dan Iya,” has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command over the alleged stabbing death of 25-year-old Moh’d Musa in Bayan Bata, Bauchi metropolis. The incident occurred around 11pm on Saturday, August 22, 2026, following a violent altercation between the two men. According to police, the suspect produced a knife during the fight and used it to stab Musa, leading to his death.
The Spokesman for the Bauchi State Police Command, SP Nafiu Habib, confirmed the development in a statement released on Sunday. He explained that after the attack, Musa was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi for medical attention. However, doctors at the facility pronounced him dead upon arrival. The hospital’s mortuary now holds the victim’s remains pending autopsy.
Police operatives from the ‘A’ Division, Township, quickly responded to the scene after receiving reports of the incident. They apprehended the suspect shortly after the attack and recovered the knife allegedly used in the stabbing. The weapon has since been preserved as evidence for further investigation.
The Bauchi State Police Command stated that the case will be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for detailed inquiry and possible prosecution. The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed detectives to carry out a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served. He emphasized the importance of accountability and urged residents to remain vigilant.
CP Aliyu also appealed to the public to avoid violence and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station. He stressed that law enforcement agencies are committed to maintaining peace and security in Bauchi State. The arrest of Abdullahi is seen as a step toward restoring public confidence in the justice system.
