The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Niger State has officially declared Dr. Mohammed Kpautagi Mohammed as the winner of the party’s governorship primary election ahead of the 2027 general elections. The announcement was made during a formal event held at the IBB Guest House in Minna, where results for governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly positions were unveiled. Ibrahim Mohammed, the State Returning Officer and Secretary of the ADC Primary Election Committee, presided over the declaration, confirming that Kpautagi secured 67,924 votes, defeating his rival Idris Usman, who polled 27,769 votes across the state’s 25 local government areas.
The primary election was conducted in accordance with the party’s constitution and guidelines, ensuring transparency and fairness. Ibrahim Mohammed emphasized that all candidates who emerged victorious met the necessary qualifications and fulfilled the party’s requirements for the various elective offices. This declaration marks a significant step in the ADC’s preparation for the upcoming 2027 elections, as the party now has a clear slate of candidates to contest across the state.
In the senatorial primaries, Shehu Mohammed was declared winner for the Niger North Senatorial District, while Muktar Ahmed emerged unopposed in Niger East. Baba Shehu Agaie secured the ticket for Niger South Senatorial District. These results reflect strong internal party support and strategic positioning for the next electoral cycle.
For the House of Representatives, the ADC has selected Mohammed Abubakar for Bida/Gbako/Katcha, Ado K. Abubakar for Tafa/Gurara/Suleja, Mohammed Ibrahim Abubakar for Mashegu/Wushishi/Kontagora/Mariga, and Abubakar M. Takuma for Lavun/Edati/Mokwa. Other winners include Mohammed Nazir Abdullahi for Magama/Rijau, Shitu Adamu Evuti for Lapai/Agaie, Jailani Inuwa for Agwara/Borgu, Dr. Alhaji Mohammed for Chanchaga, Abdulmali Kabir for Bosso/Paikoro, and Ismaila Ibrahim for Shiroro/Munya/Rafi.
At the state assembly level, Nasiru Waziri won Kontagora I, Bawa Joshua secured Munya, Auta Solomon took Tafa, Nuhu Ibrahim won Gurara, Abdullahi Imam claimed Wushishi, and Isah Mohammed emerged for Edati. Additional winners include Abubakar Garba Mohammed for Suleja, Mairogo Hamisu for Borgu, Idris Ibrahim for Shiroro, and Riyanu Suleiman for Kontagora II. Other successful candidates are Abdulwahid Ahmed for Chanchaga, Shehu Haruna Marfa for Mariga, Mohammed Baba Sani for Mokwa, Yusuf Baba for Lavun, Mohammed Umar for Katcha, Adamu M. Wonigi for Agaie, Haruna Labaran for Rafi, Yusuf Aliyu for Bosso, Baba Abubakar for Bida I, and Mustapha Shuaib for Bida II.
With the primary results now official, the ADC is set to intensify its campaign efforts as the 2027 elections draw nearer, aiming to consolidate support across Niger State.
