Ex-Plateau Gov Dariyes Son Nanle Withdraws from Reps Race

Nanle Miracle Dariye, son of former Plateau State Governor Joshua Dariye, has officially withdrawn from the race for the House of Representatives seat in the Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency. The announcement, made on Friday via his social media platforms, came after extensive consultations with family members, party leaders, and key stakeholders, including Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang. Dariye, who was running on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), described the decision as painful and difficult, emphasizing that it followed deep reflection and consideration of current political realities.

In his statement, Nanle expressed that stepping down was necessary to preserve unity, peace, and stability within the constituency and the ruling party. He acknowledged the sacrifices and unwavering support of his campaign team and supporters, noting the high expectations that surrounded his candidacy. “I have made the painful and difficult decision to withdraw from the House of Representatives contest after a series of consultations, a personal meeting with His Excellency the Governor of Plateau State, and deep reflection,” he wrote. His words reflect a sense of responsibility and maturity in navigating a competitive political environment.

Dariye stressed that leadership requires not only the courage to aspire but also the wisdom to make tough sacrifices for the greater good. He emphasized that maintaining party cohesion and ensuring peaceful elections in Mangu/Bokkos outweighed personal political ambitions. “I believe that preserving unity, peace, and stability within our constituency and party is bigger than any personal ambition,” he stated. His message was clear: the collective interest of the people must come first.

He urged his supporters to remain calm and avoid letting the withdrawal create division or weaken their collective resolve. Nanle called on them to continue working toward the progress of the constituency and to support genuine efforts aimed at improving the lives of the people. “Although I am stepping away from this race, I am not stepping away from our people, our dreams, or our collective future,” he affirmed. His commitment to the development, peace, and unity of Mangu/Bokkos remains firm.

The withdrawal comes at a critical time as the APC prepares for the upcoming elections in Plateau State. The party is expected to reassess its strategy in the constituency, possibly nominating a new candidate to fill the vacancy. Nanle’s decision may also influence voter dynamics and party unity in the region. His exit from the race underscores the importance of internal party harmony and strategic decision-making in Nigeria’s political landscape. As the campaign season progresses, the APC in Plateau State will need to maintain momentum and ensure a united front in the remaining electoral contests.
