A Magistrate’s Court in Bauchi State has convicted two men of conspiracy, criminal trespass, housebreaking, and theft following a burglary in Liman Katagum, Bauchi Local Government Area. The suspects, Iliyasu Musa, 28, and Ibrahim Isah, both residents of Baluwa Village, were found guilty after being prosecuted by the Bauchi State Police Command. The conviction was announced on Thursday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, who confirmed that the men admitted their roles in the crime during police interrogation.
The case began on June 27, 2026, when a resident of Bandan Village reported to the Liman Katagum Police Division that his home had been broken into several weeks earlier. Police launched an investigation and, through diligent detective work, tracked down and arrested the two suspects. Both men confessed to the crime during questioning and were formally charged in court, where they were subsequently convicted.
The stolen items included two Android phones, two keypad phones, a power bank, N20,000 in cash, two T-shirts, and a wristwatch. Authorities estimated the total value of the stolen property at approximately N244,000. The police emphasized that the suspects acted in concert, forcing their way into the victim’s residence to carry out the theft.
SP Habib stated that the investigation was thorough and that the suspects were apprehended based on solid evidence. “Following preliminary investigations, the two suspects were arrested. They confessed to the offence during interrogation and were subsequently charged to court, where they were convicted,” he said. The police spokesperson commended the efficiency of the investigative team and the Divisional Police Officer for their swift response.
In response to the conviction, the Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, praised the officers involved for their professionalism and dedication. He highlighted the importance of such convictions in deterring criminal activities and restoring public confidence in law enforcement. The case underscores the commitment of the Bauchi State Police Command to uphold justice and protect citizens’ property.
This successful prosecution sends a strong message to potential offenders in the region. As security challenges persist across Nigeria, the swift resolution of this case reflects the growing effectiveness of local law enforcement in addressing crime. The outcome is expected to encourage more victims to report incidents and trust in the justice system.
