The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has declared confidence in replicating its recent victory in Ekiti State during the upcoming governorship election on August 15. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a prominent APC chieftain in Osun, made the statement on Sunday in Osogbo, following Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s decisive win in the Ekiti governorship election held on Saturday. Oyebanji secured re-election with 319,224 votes, defeating Olumayokun Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) across all 16 local government areas in Ekiti.
Oyintiloye described Oyebanji’s victory as a well-deserved and historic triumph, achieved with an unprecedented margin. He emphasized that the result was a clear endorsement of the governor’s performance and a reflection of the people’s trust in progressive governance. According to him, Oyebanji’s administration has consistently prioritized development, inclusiveness, and citizen welfare, which resonated strongly with voters.
The APC chieftain linked the party’s success in Ekiti to its unity, strategic leadership, and grassroots engagement. He commended the National Working Committee (NWC), led by National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda and National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru, for their role in strengthening the party nationwide. “The Ekiti result has shown that when a party remains united, focused and committed to grassroots engagement, victory becomes inevitable,” Oyintiloye said.
He stressed that teamwork, dedication, and collective responsibility are essential for electoral success and urged APC members in Osun to remain united and committed. Oyintiloye also acknowledged the leadership of Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former Osun governor, for sustaining party unity and engagement since the 2022 governorship election. He noted that Oyetola’s consistent outreach to party members and stakeholders has strengthened the party’s structure and boosted confidence ahead of the August 15 poll.
The APC’s mobilization strategy in Osun, Oyintiloye said, remains robust and focused on reconnecting with voters across all wards and local government areas. He expressed optimism that the people of Osun will support the party’s candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, whom he described as competent, experienced, and people-oriented. “The people of Ekiti have reaffirmed their belief in progressive governance. By the grace of God, the people of Osun will do the same on August 15 by electing Oyebamiji as the next governor of the state,” he stated.
Oyintiloye added that the Ekiti victory has lifted the morale of APC members in Osun and called on opposition parties to support the APC. He concluded by asserting that the party is ready, the candidate is ready, and the electorate is ready to replicate the same victory in Osun. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially declared Oyebanji the winner of the Ekiti election, reinforcing the APC’s momentum ahead of the Osun polls. This victory is seen as a strong indicator of the party’s growing influence and electoral strength in the South-West region.
