Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Bunza, the Accord Party governorship candidate in Kebbi State, has pledged to apply Islamic teachings as a core strategy in combating banditry and kidnapping if elected in 2027. Speaking at a candidate engagement forum held on Saturday by the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kebbi State Council, Bunza emphasized that sincere implementation of Qur’anic principles could bring lasting peace to the state. He argued that religious guidance, when combined with strong governance, can address the root causes of insecurity and restore public safety.
Bunza’s approach highlights his belief in integrating faith-based solutions with practical policy measures to tackle crime. He pointed out that many security challenges stem from moral decay and economic hardship, both of which he believes can be mitigated through spiritual renewal and social responsibility. The candidate stressed that Islamic injunctions promote justice, compassion, and community cohesion—values he plans to embed in his administration’s security framework.
In addition to his security plan, Bunza announced a bold economic promise: raising the minimum wage for Kebbi workers to N500,000 per month. He stated this increase is designed to alleviate the current hardships faced by civil servants and other public employees. According to him, the proposed wage will improve living standards, boost morale, and enhance productivity across government institutions.
The candidate urged residents of Kebbi State to make informed decisions during the 2027 elections by evaluating candidates based on their manifestos and development plans. He called on voters to move beyond tribal or party affiliations and focus instead on tangible promises that address real challenges like unemployment, insecurity, and poor infrastructure.
Bunza’s campaign positions reflect a blend of religious values and economic reform, aiming to appeal to both conservative and progressive voters. His emphasis on using Islamic teachings to combat insecurity sets him apart from other candidates who rely primarily on military or police-led approaches. At the same time, his pledge to significantly raise wages targets a widespread concern among working-class Nigerians.
As the 2027 gubernatorial election draws closer, Bunza’s proposals are likely to attract attention in a state where insecurity and economic struggles remain top priorities. His ability to translate these promises into actionable policies may determine his success in gaining voter support. With his unique combination of faith-driven leadership and economic ambition, Bunza is positioning himself as a serious contender in Kebbi’s political landscape.
