2027: Timi Frank Warns Against Pushing Nigeria Into Chaos Amid Fresh Plot to Delist ADC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is facing a fresh plot to delist it ahead of the 2027 general elections, according to Timi Frank, former deputy spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a statement issued on Monday, Frank warned that any attempt to remove the ADC from the ballot would trigger widespread unrest and damage Nigeria’s democratic credibility. He emphasized that the party and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, are being specifically targeted by forces within the ruling party and state institutions. Frank accused the Bola Tinubu administration of abandoning democratic norms and using state apparatus to suppress opposition.

Frank revealed that he has received reliable intelligence about a conspiracy involving the judiciary and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to exclude the ADC from participating in the 2027 elections. He stated that the ultimate goal is to prevent Atiku Abubakar from contesting the presidency at all costs. He described the plan as a “dark agenda” designed to silence opposition parties and facilitate electoral fraud. Frank urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and monitor what he called a dangerous pattern of anti-democratic behavior by the current administration.

He further called on the international community, particularly the United States government, to intervene and prevent Nigeria from descending into crisis. Frank accused the presidency of deploying state institutions to destroy opposition parties, especially the ADC, for selfish political gain. He warned that INEC and the judiciary must not become “accomplices” in any such plot, stressing that Nigerians, the global community, and future generations would hold them accountable. Frank also declared that those behind the alleged conspiracy within the presidency are known to him and will be exposed to the international community as enablers of democratic barbarism.

This warning comes shortly after Atiku Abubakar himself raised concerns about a plot to use the judiciary to delist the ADC. The situation gained traction following a recent high court ruling in Lokoja, which set aside an earlier judgment that had compelled INEC to register the ADC as a political party. The legal battle over the party’s status continues to unfold, adding to the growing tension ahead of the 2027 elections. Frank’s statements underscore the deepening political uncertainty and the urgent need for transparency and accountability in Nigeria’s electoral processes. As the country approaches its next general election, the integrity of its democracy remains under serious scrutiny.
