A 45-year-old woman, Adeoye Taiwo, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly pouring hot water on a 13-year-old girl, causing severe burns in the Odomogun area of Ijebu Imusin, Ogun State. The incident, which occurred on April 13, 2026, around 3:30 PM, led to a swift police response and the suspect’s arrest. The victim, identified as Adeoye Modinat, is the daughter of Taiwo’s twin sister and was living with her at the time of the attack. According to sources, the suspect accused the minor of following men and instructed her own daughter to boil the water used in the assault.
The police confirmed the arrest and subsequent arraignment of the suspect before the Ijebu Mushin Magistrate Court. She was granted bail in the sum of N3 million but failed to meet the conditions, leading to her remand at the Igbegba Correctional Centre. DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Police Public Relations Officer, verified the incident during an interview with DAILY POST on Sunday. He stated that detectives from the division arrived at the scene immediately after receiving the report, rescued the victim, and ensured her prompt transfer to a medical facility for treatment.
Babaseyi emphasized that the suspect has been formally charged and is now in custody. He condemned all forms of violence and abuse against children, reiterating the Ogun State Police Command’s commitment to safeguarding vulnerable members of society. The PPRO also urged the public to report any suspected cases of child abuse to the nearest police station or through emergency channels. The victim remains under medical care, with her condition being monitored closely by healthcare professionals.
