The All Progressives Congress (APC) has hailed its sweeping victory in the Ekiti State Governorship Election and strong performance in six bye-elections across Nigeria as a clear endorsement of its governance philosophy and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reform agenda. National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, described the results as a powerful vote of confidence in the party’s commitment to development, accountability, and institutional renewal. Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the APC was declared winner after securing a commanding victory across Ekiti State, while the party also won five out of six bye-elections held nationwide.
Yilwatda emphasized that Nigerians are increasingly able to differentiate between short-term economic challenges linked to reforms and the long-term benefits of responsible governance. He stated that the electoral outcomes reflect public appreciation for leadership that prioritizes development, stability, and the welfare of citizens. According to the APC leader, the people of Ekiti have once again proven that performance remains the most potent campaign message in democratic politics.
In a statement signed by Abimbola Tooki, Special Adviser to the National Chairman, Yilwatda noted that Governor Oyebanji’s re-election is a reward for visionary leadership, inclusive governance, and visible developmental achievements. He highlighted sustained investments in road infrastructure, rural development, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, and workers’ welfare under the Oyebanji administration. The APC chairman described Ekiti as one of the most compelling governance success stories in contemporary Nigeria.
The Ekiti election, Yilwatda said, has become a national reference point, confirming that tangible results in key sectors like infrastructure, education, and security lead to renewed public trust and electoral support. He stressed that governance, not propaganda, remains the most effective route to political legitimacy. The victory, he added, sends a clear message in favor of continuity, stability, and progress.
Yilwatda also placed the Ekiti result within the broader context of President Tinubu’s national reform agenda, which aims to build a more resilient and globally competitive Nigerian economy. He noted that the APC’s success in Ekiti and other bye-elections demonstrates that performance-based governance continues to resonate with voters, even during periods of economic transition. The party’s achievements in Ekiti, he said, provide a practical demonstration of its people-centred governance model.
Looking ahead, the APC’s electoral wins are expected to strengthen its political momentum and reinforce its narrative of development-driven leadership across Nigeria.
