Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have successfully repelled a deadly attack by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters on a military base in Borno State, killing several insurgents while tragically losing one soldier in the fierce engagement. The assault took place at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Logomani in Ngala Local Government Area, where insurgents attempted to breach the base’s defenses. According to Captain Mohammed Goni, the Media Information Officer of OPHK, attackers briefly penetrated part of the perimeter before being pushed back by a swift counter-offensive launched by the troops.
During the intense firefight, one soldier made the ultimate sacrifice, and two gun trucks along with other combat equipment sustained damage. Despite the loss, military forces regained full control of the base and have deployed additional reinforcements to ensure the area remains secure. Captain Goni confirmed that the situation is now under control and emphasized the military’s commitment to protecting critical installations and personnel.
In another significant development, troops from the 115 Task Force Battalion conducted a successful search-and-rescue mission in Askira-Uba Local Government Area, rescuing two individuals who had been kidnapped. The victims were immediately evacuated to a secure location for medical care and psychosocial support. Alongside the rescue, soldiers recovered N1.2 million in cash believed to be proceeds from criminal activities, as well as food supplies and logistics materials that may have been used to sustain terrorist operations.
Meanwhile, six suspected ISWAP fighters and their families surrendered to troops of the 192 Battalion in Sector 1 of OPHK. The group had fled from terrorist strongholds in Guduf Bubayagwa and Chikide areas of the Mandara Mountains in Gwoza Local Government Area. Authorities recovered N1.54 million in cash and two mobile phones from the surrendering individuals, further disrupting the insurgents’ operational capabilities.
Additional operations across Adamawa and Borno states led to the arrest of suspected criminal elements and logistics suppliers. Security forces seized weapons, ammunition, vehicles, cash, and other materials linked to terrorist activities, signaling a continued effort to dismantle support networks. In Zamfara State, security operatives rescued an abducted INEC staff member and recovered hundreds of rustled cattle following operations in Gummi, Talata Mafara, and Gusau Local Government Areas.
Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, A.M. Bello, reiterated the police’s resolve to combat criminal groups and urged residents to report credible intelligence. The military stressed that these operations are part of a broader strategy to dismantle terrorist networks, cut off supply lines, and restore lasting peace across the North-East and other affected regions. The coordinated efforts reflect a sustained push to ensure security and stability for communities across Nigeria’s troubled zones.
