Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have successfully rescued 15 kidnapped victims in Marge community, Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, following a fierce gun battle with terrorists. The military operation, launched on Sunday, was triggered by credible intelligence indicating the presence of armed kidnappers in the area. Upon arrival, soldiers engaged the attackers in a swift and decisive firefight, forcing them to retreat into the surrounding bush while abandoning their captives. The rescue mission was executed without any casualties among the troops, and all 15 victims were safely returned to their families.
The operation marks a significant success in the ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and terrorism in the North-West region of Nigeria. According to a post shared by crisis reporter Bakatsine on his X handle, the military’s rapid response was made possible through timely intelligence and coordinated deployment. The troops’ superior firepower and tactical precision ensured the terrorists were overwhelmed and driven away, leaving no room for escape with their hostages. This latest rescue underscores the effectiveness of intelligence-led operations in disrupting criminal networks.
This incident follows another successful intervention by Operation FANSAN YAMMA just 24 hours earlier, when four victims were rescued from kidnappers in Surimi, a border community between Kebbi and Sokoto states. The back-to-back operations highlight the increasing intensity of military efforts to dismantle terrorist and kidnapping syndicates in the region. Both rescues were conducted using similar intelligence-driven strategies, demonstrating a consistent and proactive approach by the Nigerian Armed Forces.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA continues to expand its reach across the North-West, focusing on high-risk areas prone to abductions and armed attacks. The military’s emphasis on intelligence gathering and rapid response has become a cornerstone of its strategy to restore peace and security in vulnerable communities. By targeting the root causes of insecurity, including the movement and hideouts of terrorists, the operation aims to reduce the frequency of kidnappings and build public confidence.
The successful rescue of 15 individuals in Marge and four in Surimi within a short span signals a turning point in the fight against insecurity in the region. As the military maintains its aggressive posture, communities are beginning to feel safer, and families are being reunited after prolonged trauma. The continued success of Operation FANSAN YAMMA is expected to further weaken criminal networks and pave the way for long-term stability in the North-West.
