Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested 12 suspected collaborators and logistics suppliers linked to Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in a targeted intelligence-led operation in Damasak, Borno State. The military confirmed the arrests in an operational report released in Abuja on Monday, highlighting a significant development in the ongoing fight against terrorism in the northeast. The operation was launched following actionable intelligence gathered during the interrogation of a suspect previously arrested at the Kadauri cattle market in Damasak. This individual reportedly provided critical information about meeting points, hideouts, and the network of informants and suppliers supporting terrorist activities in the region.
Military personnel conducted coordinated cordon-and-search operations at multiple locations based on the intelligence. These efforts led to the successful apprehension of the 12 suspects, who are now being processed. The army stated that the suspects are undergoing preliminary investigations before being transferred to the Joint Intelligence Fusion Centre in Maiduguri for further profiling and interrogation. The operation underscores the military’s commitment to dismantling the support structures that sustain insurgent groups in the region.
Among the items recovered during the raids were four mobile phones — three Tecno devices, one Itel phone, and one Infinix smartphone — along with N7,360 in cash. These items are believed to have been used for communication and coordination between the suspects and terrorist elements. The military described the operation as a major breakthrough in disrupting logistics networks that have long enabled Boko Haram and ISWAP to carry out attacks and maintain a presence in the area.
The Nigerian Army emphasized that such intelligence-driven operations are essential to weakening terrorist networks and preventing future attacks. They also stressed that the campaign will continue, with troops remaining vigilant and proactive in identifying and apprehending other individuals linked to the same network. The success in Damasak reflects the growing effectiveness of coordinated military and intelligence efforts in Borno State and across the northeast.
As the military continues to target collaborators and logistics suppliers, communities in the region are being encouraged to support security operations by reporting suspicious activities. The arrest of these 12 suspects sends a clear message that no one will be allowed to aid or abet terrorism without facing consequences. This operation is expected to further degrade the operational capacity of Boko Haram and ISWAP, contributing to long-term stability in the region.
