Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have intensified security operations across Borno State, arresting suspected terrorist informants and logistics suppliers, receiving the surrender of a suspected ISWAP member, and destroying an improvised explosive device (IED) in separate raids. These actions, carried out by various military battalions and in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), underscore the military’s ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and improve safety in the North-East. The operations took place in multiple locations including Mafa, Konduga, Gubio, Damboa, and Bama Local Government Areas, with key developments reported on Thursday.
In Dusuman Ward, Mafa Local Government Area, soldiers from the 195 Battalion, working with CJTF members, apprehended a suspect identified as an informant for ISWAP and JAS. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had met with terrorists in Labe village to pass on intelligence about troop movements and military activities. This arrest highlights the continued threat posed by local collaborators who aid insurgent operations.
Meanwhile, in Konduga Local Government Area, troops of the 73 Battalion received the voluntary surrender of a suspected ISWAP member. The suspect confessed to taking part in three attacks on Delwa and admitted to discarding his AK-47 rifle in a river before surrendering. Items recovered from him included a bicycle, a cutlass, bicycle repair tools, and N6,500 in cash. His surrender marks a significant development in the military’s strategy to encourage defections and gather actionable intelligence.
In Gubio Local Government Area, the 149 Battalion, alongside CJTF operatives, arrested another suspected terrorist informant. The suspect confessed to leading the June 16 infiltration by terrorists that resulted in the death of a CJTF member. This confession provides critical insight into the planning and execution of past attacks, aiding in future prevention efforts.
Troops from the 19 Battalion and 25 Brigade Garrison intercepted suspected logistics suppliers near Road Kauji in Damboa. The suspects fled upon sighting the military, leaving behind two bicycles, cartons of energy drinks, milk, soft drinks, veterinary medicines, and a canopy—items likely intended to support insurgent operations.
In a separate operation, soldiers from the 26 Task Force Brigade discovered and safely detonated an IED planted in a farming area near Dagari in the Sambisa Forest, Bama Local Government Area. The destruction of the device prevented potential harm to civilians and disrupted insurgent efforts to target agricultural zones.
These coordinated actions reflect the military’s sustained commitment to neutralizing terrorist support structures and restoring stability in Borno State. As security operations continue, the military remains focused on protecting communities and dismantling the infrastructure that enables insurgency.
