President Bola Tinubu secured a decisive victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election held on Saturday at Ward L2 in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, polling 4,996 votes out of 5,163 accredited voters. The direct primary, held at Ireti Nursery and Primary School on Mekwen Street, off Queens Drive in Ikoyi, marked a key step in the party’s selection process for the 2027 general election. Tinubu faced competition from businessman Sterlyn Osifo, but his overwhelming win underscores strong party backing and support from APC members across the region.
The voting exercise began early in the morning under tight security arrangements, with a visible presence of party loyalists, stakeholders, and prominent leaders. The atmosphere was calm and orderly, reflecting the party’s commitment to a transparent and peaceful primary process. President Tinubu arrived at the polling centre at approximately 11:35 a.m., shortly after voter accreditation was completed. The ward returning officer, Martha Adikwu, officially declared Tinubu the winner after the vote count was finalized, confirming his landslide victory.
