Ogun Police Recover Three Stolen Cars, Arrest Suspect in Major Theft Operation

The Ogun State Police Command has successfully arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered three stolen vehicles, including a Toyota Sienna, a Toyota Corolla, and a 2017 Lexus RX 350 F-Sport, along with a fabricated pistol, in a coordinated anti-crime operation. The arrests, carried out by detectives of the Anti-Robbery Squad, followed intelligence-led investigations into a series of vehicle thefts and armed robberies across the state and neighboring regions. The suspects, identified as Hammed Olarewaju, Adedokun Ayinde, and Adedokun Adewusi, are now in custody as police continue to dismantle the criminal network they are believed to be part of.

According to Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Police Public Relations Officer for the command, the operation began after reports of vehicle thefts prompted a discreet investigation. The first suspect, Hammed Olarewaju, was apprehended after being found in possession of a suspicious vehicle plate number. Further inquiry led to the arrest of Adedokun Ayinde, who is suspected to be the leader of the armed robbery syndicate operating in parts of Ogun State. The police also recovered a Toyota Sienna that had been previously stolen, along with a fabricated pistol believed to have been used in the commission of the crimes.

In a related development, a stolen Toyota Corolla, reported missing in Ilaro, was recovered from Arowolo Taoreed in Ibadan, Oyo State. Meanwhile, Adedokun Adewusi was arrested in connection with another armed robbery incident. This arrest led to the recovery of a grey 2017 Lexus RX 350 F-Sport, which had been stolen in Abuja. A pistol seized in Ajah, Lagos State, has also been linked to the same criminal network, indicating the syndicate’s wide operational reach across multiple states.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects are part of a coordinated criminal network involved in vehicle theft and armed robbery across Ogun State and its neighboring regions. The police have emphasized that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate and recover additional stolen vehicles. The operation underscores the commitment of the Ogun State Police Command to curb rising crime rates and restore public confidence in security.

The arrests and recoveries highlight the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and inter-state collaboration in combating organized crime. As law enforcement agencies continue to strengthen their operations, communities are encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities. The police remain determined to bring all perpetrators of crime to justice and ensure safer neighborhoods across the region.
