Kosofe APC Aspirant Rejects Primary Results, Claims No Election Held

A House of Representatives aspirant for Kosofe Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Oluremi Oluwalogbon-Odunsi, has formally rejected the results being circulated from the party’s primary election held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, stating that no legitimate voting process occurred in the constituency. She insists that the figures and declarations currently making the rounds are invalid and not the outcome of any recognized election. Oluwalogbon-Odunsi alleges that both Mayor Adele Osinowo and incumbent lawmaker Hon. Khafilat Ogbara separately declared themselves winners, despite the absence of an actual voting exercise.

In a statement released after the scheduled primary, Oluwalogbon-Odunsi described the situation as a clear violation of the APC’s internal electoral procedures. “I reject the purported results being circulated and announced in respect of the primary election held yesterday,” she stated firmly. She emphasized that the circulation of results without a conducted vote undermines the credibility of the party’s democratic process and contradicts established guidelines. The aspirant argued that such actions erode trust among party members and delegitimizes the entire primary exercise.

Oluwalogbon-Odunsi called on APC leadership and stakeholders to intervene immediately to protect the integrity of the party’s internal elections. She stressed that the APC’s reputation and public perception depend heavily on transparent and fair primary processes. “Accordingly, I do not recognise or accept the purported outcome being circulated, acknowledging the results would amount to endorsing a process that did not follow due process,” she said. Her rejection is rooted in the belief that any acceptance of these results would set a dangerous precedent for future party elections.

The aspirant disclosed that she has already submitted a formal petition and appeal to the appropriate party authorities, detailing her observations, concerns, and requests for a thorough investigation. She expressed confidence that the APC leadership would review the matter with due diligence and take corrective action. Oluwalogbon-Odunsi urged officials at both state and national levels to conduct a transparent inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the alleged results declaration. She emphasized that only an open and fair review can restore confidence among aspirants, delegates, and party members in Kosofe.

She reaffirmed her loyalty to the APC and its democratic principles, clarifying that her stance is not aimed at creating division but at strengthening the party’s credibility ahead of the general elections. As of the time of filing this report, the APC had not issued an official response to the allegations. The outcome of this dispute could have significant implications for the party’s internal dynamics and electoral preparedness in Lagos State.
