Kano NDC Resolves Leadership Dispute, Reaffirms Husaini Mai Riga as Chairman

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kano State has regained unity following a leadership disagreement, with the party’s national leadership stepping in to resolve the issue and reaffirm Hon. Husaini Isah Mai Riga as State Chairman. The intervention came after tensions arose within the party following the involvement of former Governor of Kano State and National Leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. A special meeting was held on Tuesday under the leadership of Senator Seriake Henry Dickson, the National Leader of the NDC, bringing together key figures including Engr. Muhammad Sabo Bakin Zuwo, Vice Chairman, Northwest, and other senior party leaders.

The meeting concluded with a unanimous resolution to retain Mai Riga in his position as Chairman of the NDC in Kano State. This decision was seen as a testament to the party’s commitment to internal peace and political maturity. According to a statement issued by Adam Said Adam, Director General of Social Media for the NDC Kano State Chapter, the resolution highlighted the statesmanship and political experience of Engr. Kwankwaso, whose role in mediating the dispute was pivotal. The statement emphasized that the peaceful resolution preserved the party’s unity and strengthened its foundation ahead of upcoming elections.

In response, Hon. Mai Riga expressed deep gratitude to Senator Seriake Henry Dickson, Engr. Kwankwaso, Engr. Bakin Zuwo, and the people of Kano State for their unwavering support during the period of tension. He acknowledged the challenges and extended a formal apology to anyone he may have inadvertently offended in recent days, urging forgiveness and reconciliation. Mai Riga described the outcome as a reflection of the wisdom and maturity within the party’s leadership, reinforcing trust and cohesion among members.

He also offered prayers for divine guidance and support for the NDC at all levels, particularly as the party prepares for future electoral contests. Mai Riga prayed for peace, progress, and national unity across the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The resolution is expected to stabilize the party’s operations in Kano State and enhance its electoral prospects in the region. With leadership restored and internal harmony re-established, the NDC in Kano is now focused on uniting its members and advancing its political agenda in the coming months.
