A 30-year-old man has been arrested by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Ogun State Police Command for the alleged abduction and murder of a 16-year-old girl, Adegbaaju Florence, in the Ogijo area of Sagamu Local Government. The suspect, identified as Bayegun Nathaniel, is accused of collecting a ransom of N500,000 before killing the victim and dumping her body in a river nearby. The arrest followed a series of intelligence-led operations by police investigators after the incident occurred on Wednesday, 8th April 2026, at around 5:00 PM.
According to DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the police spokesperson, the command immediately activated its Anti-Kidnapping response mechanism upon receiving the report of the abduction. He confirmed that detectives worked tirelessly to gather intelligence and track the suspect’s movements, culminating in his arrest on Saturday, 2nd May 2026, at approximately 2:00 PM. The operation was described as coordinated and strategic, highlighting the police’s commitment to solving violent crimes swiftly.
