Jigawa APC Reconciles Over 400 Aggrieved Party Members After Disputed Primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State has successfully reconciled over 400 aggrieved aspirants who contested in the party’s recent primary elections, marking a significant step toward unity ahead of the 2027 general elections. The reconciliation exercise, led by the APC Reconciliation Committee, was presented to Governor Umar Namadi at the Government House in Dutse on Friday. The committee, chaired by Alhaji Isah Muhammad Gerawa and co-chaired by Senator Muhammad Dudu, engaged with party members across all 27 local government areas of the state to address grievances and restore harmony.

Senator Dudu, who presented the report on behalf of the committee, emphasized that the initiative provided a platform for both successful and unsuccessful aspirants to voice their concerns and resolve disputes. He described the reconciliation as a historic milestone, noting it was the first of its kind by a ruling party in Jigawa State since the return to democratic governance in 1999. The committee met with more than 400 party members during the process and managed to resolve key issues that had threatened internal cohesion within the APC.

Governor Umar Namadi commended the 15-member committee for its dedication and efforts in fostering peace and unity within the party. He highlighted that the reconciliation process had already strengthened trust, cooperation, and collective commitment among party members across the state. The governor stressed that the success of any political party depends on the active participation and unity of all its members, not just those in leadership positions.

In response, Governor Namadi directed the committee to continue its reconciliation efforts until the general elections. He also announced that the committee would remain a standing body to ensure ongoing dialogue, peaceful coexistence, and sustained party cohesion. This move underscores the state government’s commitment to maintaining a stable and united political environment.

The APC Reconciliation Committee was officially inaugurated on June 22, 2026, with the primary mandate to engage aggrieved aspirants, address their concerns, and promote unity following the party’s primary elections. The committee’s work has been instrumental in preventing potential conflicts and ensuring that the party remains focused on its electoral goals. As the 2027 general elections approach, this reconciliation effort is expected to play a crucial role in consolidating the APC’s position in Jigawa State and enhancing its chances of electoral success.
