Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the 2023 vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has identified Hakeem Baba-Ahmed of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) as a formidable political force who could challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections. Speaking on Tuesday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Datti emphasized that Hakeem Baba-Ahmed’s experience and determination make him a serious contender, despite being overlooked by many in Nigeria’s political landscape.
Datti warned that the APC’s underestimation of Hakeem Baba-Ahmed could prove costly in the upcoming election cycle. “If there is anything that is a threat to Tinubu 2027, it is Dr Hakeem and PRP,” he stated firmly. He added that the public often fails to recognize Baba-Ahmed’s capabilities because he is not widely known, but that does not diminish his political strength or commitment.
