The Action Peoples Party (APP) has unveiled its official timetable for primary elections ahead of the 2027 General Elections, as approved by the National Working Committee, marking a significant step in its preparations for the upcoming political contests. The schedule, released to stakeholders in Imo State, outlines key dates and fees for aspirants seeking nomination across various elective offices. This move signals the party’s readiness to begin the formal process of selecting candidates for national and state positions.

Pre-primary activities officially began on May 6, 2026, with the publication of notices for primary elections at all levels. Aspirants in Imo State and across the country have been directed to submit completed nomination and expression of interest forms between May 6 and May 25, 2026. The list of cleared candidates will be published on May 27, 2026, ahead of the actual primary elections.

The APP has set specific dates for primaries at different levels. The Presidential Primary is scheduled for May 27, 2026, at the National Headquarters. The Governorship Primary will follow on May 30, 2026, at State Secretariats. Senate primaries will be held on May 29, 2026, at Senatorial District Headquarters, while House of Representatives primaries are also set for May 29, 2026, at Federal Constituency Headquarters. House of Assembly primaries will take place on May 30, 2026, at Local Government Area Headquarters.

Fees for nomination and expression of interest forms have been clearly defined. Presidential aspirants must pay ₦77 million for nomination and ₦3 million for expression of interest. Governorship candidates are to pay ₦7 million for nomination and ₦3 million for expression of interest. Senatorial aspirants will pay ₦3 million for nomination and ₦2 million for expression of interest, while House of Representatives candidates pay ₦3 million for nomination and ₦1 million for expression of interest. For House of Assembly positions, the nomination fee is ₦1 million, with an expression of interest fee of ₦500,000.

In a move to promote inclusivity, the APP has announced that women and persons living with disabilities will receive free nomination forms. This policy reflects the party’s commitment to ensuring equal participation in the democratic process. The party leadership has also emphasized its dedication to conducting transparent, credible, and fair primaries across all levels.
