Atikus Presidential Ambition Unstoppable, ADC Chieftain Tells Wike

A Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has strongly condemned the recent remarks attributed to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in which he claimed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar would never become President of Nigeria and boasted of possessing the political structure to prevent his presidential ambition in 2027. Eze described the statement as unfortunate, childish, undemocratic, and arrogant, warning that such rhetoric undermines the democratic principles that govern Nigeria. He emphasized that no individual, regardless of position or influence, has the authority to determine who becomes President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

In a statement released on Monday, Eze challenged Wike to clarify what he meant by the “structure” he frequently references. He questioned whether the structure is rooted in the genuine support of the electorate or built on the manipulation of state institutions, intimidation of opponents, and abuse of governmental powers. Eze stressed that Nigerians deserve transparency and accountability, especially when political figures make bold claims that could influence public perception and electoral outcomes.

He pointed out that the current economic hardships, rising insecurity, and soaring cost of living have sharpened the political consciousness of Nigerians. The electorate, particularly the youth, is increasingly determined to reclaim their country from leaders whose policies have deepened national challenges. Eze argued that the era of a few powerful individuals making decisions behind closed doors is fading, replaced by a more informed and vigilant citizenry.

The ADC chieftain reminded Wike that political influence is not permanent and that history shows even the most dominant figures eventually lose relevance. He warned against the illusion of political invincibility, asserting that power ultimately belongs to the people, who hold the final authority through the ballot. Eze criticized the current administration for focusing on political posturing instead of addressing the pressing needs of ordinary Nigerians.

He maintained that the 2027 presidential election will not be decided by boasts, threats, or propaganda, but by the people’s judgment based on competence, vision, and the ability to deliver solutions. Eze expressed confidence in the ADC as a well-structured party capable of challenging the existing political order, noting that past political calculations cannot guarantee future success.

Eze concluded by declaring that Nigeria belongs to over 200 million citizens, not to any single individual, and that the sovereign will of the people will prevail over every attempt to manipulate the democratic process. He urged Wike to abandon divisive rhetoric and focus on serving Nigerians effectively in his current role. The 2027 election, he insisted, will be decided by Nigerians alone, and any structure built on arrogance or intimidation will ultimately crumble before the united will of the electorate.
