APCs Monsuru Osho Wins Ogun Councillorship Bye-Election

Monsuru Osho of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in the bye-election held in Iperu III Ward 5 of Ikenne Local Government Area, Ogun State, winning the councillorship seat vacated after the death of former councillor Nurudeen Bakare. The election, conducted across 18 polling units, saw Osho secure 1,730 votes out of the 1,741 votes cast, according to official results announced by the Returning Officer of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), Olusogo Otelaja. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received five votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled four votes, marking a decisive win for the APC candidate.

Voting commenced at 8:00 am and proceeded without major disruptions, with security personnel deployed throughout the ward to ensure a peaceful and orderly process. Otelaja confirmed that the election was conducted smoothly, with no significant incidents reported during the voting or collation phases. He praised the cooperation of security agencies and electoral officials, highlighting the calm and disciplined conduct of voters throughout the day.

The OGSIEC Chairman, Babatunde Osibodu, represented by Commissioner Gbemi Onasanya, described the exercise as peaceful, free, and credible. He commended the residents of Iperu III Ward 5 for their active and peaceful participation, and acknowledged the professionalism displayed by electoral officers and security personnel. The chairman of Ikenne Local Government, Jamiu Asimi, also lauded OGSIEC for delivering a transparent and well-managed election, reinforcing public confidence in the electoral process.

In his reaction, Monsuru Osho expressed deep gratitude to the electorate for their overwhelming support and trust in his candidacy. He thanked Governor Dapo Abiodun for the opportunity to serve and pledged to work closely with the local government administration to advance development initiatives and improve the welfare of residents in the ward. Osho emphasized his commitment to delivering tangible results and addressing the needs of the people.

Several voters, including Kehinde Fasola and Moses Adewuyi, echoed the sentiment of a well-organized and transparent election.
