The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has officially released the list of aspirants who successfully passed screening for the 2026 primary elections in Anambra State, marking a key step in the party’s preparations for the upcoming general elections. According to a statement issued on Friday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ejimofor Opara, the screening process has concluded, and candidates are now eligible to proceed with the next phase of the nomination process. The announcement was made available to journalists and party members across the state, signaling the formal commencement of the primary election cycle.

APGA confirmed that a total of 155 aspirants have been cleared for the 2026 primary elections. This includes eight candidates for the senatorial race, 40 for the House of Representatives, and 107 for the Anambra State House of Assembly. Each of these aspirants has met the party’s eligibility criteria and has been officially approved to participate in the nomination process. The party emphasized that only those whose names appear on the released list are eligible to proceed further.

Successful aspirants are required to visit the APGA regional office in Awka on May 18 to collect their nomination forms. The party has set a strict deadline for the submission of forms, with the sale closing on May 20. Candidates are urged to complete the process within this timeframe to avoid disqualification. The party’s leadership has stressed the importance of adhering to the timeline to ensure a smooth and transparent primary election process.

The National Working Committee of APGA extended its congratulations to the cleared aspirants, commending them for meeting the party’s standards and expressing confidence in their ability to represent the party in the 2026 general elections. The committee also reiterated its commitment to conducting a fair, open, and credible primary process that upholds the party’s values and principles.

This development comes as APGA prepares to strengthen its presence in Anambra State ahead of the 2026 elections. The party’s focus on transparency and inclusivity in the screening process reflects its broader strategy to build a competitive and united front. With the nomination forms now available, the stage is set for the next phase of the electoral journey, as candidates begin their campaigns within the party structure.

As the primary elections approach, APGA’s leadership will continue to monitor the process closely to ensure compliance with party rules and procedures. The successful aspirants are expected to engage with party structures and constituents to build momentum for the general elections. This milestone underscores the party’s commitment to democratic processes and its readiness to contest the 2026 elections across all levels of government in Anambra State.
