In response to allegations that his faction is being sponsored by the APC to disrupt the ADC’s coalition plans, Bala dismissed the claims as baseless. He emphasized his decade-long membership in the ADC and argued that under the party’s constitution, he should have automatically become acting national chairman after Ralph Nwosu’s resignation. “Since Ralph Nwosu resigned, Nafiu Bala as a deputy national chairman constitutionally is supposed to be the acting national chairman from that very day up to today,” he stated. He clarified that his disagreements with other party leaders are not personal but rooted in procedural concerns, particularly regarding how certain leaders entered the party. “We are not saying we don’t like David Mark. We are not saying we are not going to work with them. But we are telling them the process and the way they entered the party is faulty,” Bala said.
As the ADC grapples with internal divisions, Bala’s claim to leadership adds complexity to the party’s future direction, with implications for its political alliances and electoral strategies in the coming years.
