The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially nominated Bello Ambarura as its deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 Sokoto State gubernatorial election, marking a significant step in the party’s preparations for the upcoming polls. Ambarura, who currently serves as the member representing Illela/Gwadabawa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, will run alongside the party’s governorship candidate, Manir Muhammad Dan-Iya. The announcement was made in a statement released on Monday by Lamir Aminu, the ADC’s Sokoto State Publicity Secretary, underscoring the party’s strategic move to field a strong, experienced leadership duo.
The nomination follows thorough internal consultations within the ADC and is in accordance with Section 187(1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended). Aminu emphasized that the decision reflects the party’s dedication to presenting a competent, credible, and people-centered leadership team capable of delivering effective governance in Sokoto State. He expressed confidence that Ambarura’s extensive background in public service and legislative experience will greatly enhance the party’s chances in the 2027 election.
Bello Ambarura is widely recognized as a seasoned administrator and dedicated public servant. He began his career in the Sokoto State Civil Service and rose through the ranks to become a Permanent Secretary. He later served as Commissioner for Commerce and Industries, where he demonstrated strong leadership and administrative skills. His political journey continued when he was elected to the Sokoto State House of Assembly in 2019, where he held the position of Majority Leader until 2023. In 2023, he transitioned to the national legislature, winning election to the House of Representatives to represent the Illela/Gwadabawa Federal Constituency.
The ADC highlighted that Ambarura’s deep understanding of both state and federal governance, coupled with his legislative experience, positions him as an ideal running mate for Manir Muhammad Dan-Iya. His track record in public administration and policy formulation is expected to bring stability and continuity to the party’s campaign platform.
