Nigerian football prodigy Favor James-Omobude has officially completed a move to German Bundesliga club Werder Bremen, marking a significant step in his young career ahead of the 2026–2027 season. The 14-year-old striker, born in 2010, will join the club’s U17 team, which competes in the U17 DFB-Nachwuchsliga – Hauptrunde Liga A. His transfer from MSV Duisburg has been confirmed by his representatives, AM Sports Management, with only an official club announcement pending. Omobude will formally link up with Werder Bremen this summer when the transfer window reopens.

The signing ceremony was attended by Omobude’s family, highlighting the personal and emotional importance of this milestone in his football journey. Regarded as a promising attacking talent with strong potential, he is expected to develop under the guidance of Werder Bremen’s youth academy, known for nurturing future stars. His move underscores the growing interest in Nigerian youth talent within top European clubs, particularly in Germany, where Nigerian players are increasingly making their mark.

During his final season with MSV Duisburg, Omobude featured in seven matches in the U17 DFB Youth League – Main Round League B. He contributed two assists, showcasing his playmaking ability in crucial games against Hennef 05 and Arminia Bielefeld. His performances have drawn attention from scouts and coaches alike, reinforcing his status as a player to watch in the coming years. Omobude’s eligibility to represent Spain internationally adds another layer of interest, giving him multiple pathways for future development.

Werder Bremen already has a strong Nigerian presence at the senior level, with Super Eagles stars Victor Boniface and Felix Agu currently playing for the club. The team also includes Isaac Schmidt and Wesley Adeh, further strengthening the Nigerian connection within the club’s ranks. This creates a supportive environment for Omobude as he transitions into a new chapter of his career, surrounded by familiar faces and cultural ties.

The move to Werder Bremen reflects the increasing global reach of Nigerian football talent, particularly at the youth level. As Omobude begins his journey in one of Germany’s most respected academies, fans and football observers in Nigeria are watching closely. His development could one day see him follow in the footsteps of other Nigerian youth exports who have gone on to achieve success in top European leagues. The future looks bright for this young striker as he steps onto the international stage.
