The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspects and recovered stolen motorcycles and other valuables following two separate armed robbery incidents in Ogere Remo and Ajuwon areas of the state. In the first incident, a suspect identified as Abdulsalam Adam was apprehended after he and other armed hoodlums invaded a residence in Akuro Phase I, Ogere Remo, on Friday. The intruders stole two motorcycles, mobile phones, cash, and other valuables before fleeing the scene. Police responded swiftly to credible information and, in coordination with the State So-Safe Corps, local vigilantes, and community members, intercepted the suspects.
Through tactical deployment and strategic pursuit, officers forced the suspects to abandon the stolen motorcycles and flee into a nearby bush. One suspect, Abdulsalam Adam, was arrested and is currently assisting investigators. At the scene, police recovered a knife, an expended cartridge, and a broken padlock as exhibits. The case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran for further investigation and possible prosecution.
In a separate incident on July 2, 2026, operatives of the Ajuwon Division responded to a distress call about an armed robbery at Baale Akinosi Area, Ajuwon. Hoodlums invaded a residence and stole mobile phones, jewellery, power banks, a laptop, a Toyota Camry, and other valuables. The Anti-Crime Team mobilized immediately and launched a coordinated operation. When the suspects saw the police, they abandoned the stolen Toyota Camry during a hot pursuit and escaped into the bush. One suspect, Israel Salako, was arrested and is now assisting with investigations. Police are still searching for the remaining suspects and working to recover the other stolen property.
The police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, commended the swift response and professionalism of the officers involved. He emphasized that ongoing efforts are focused on apprehending the remaining suspects and recovering all stolen items. The State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, praised the officers for their vigilance and commitment to proactive, intelligence-led policing. He highlighted the Command’s continued focus on sustained visibility patrols, strategic stop-and-search operations, prompt response to distress calls, and community partnerships to prevent crime before it happens. These operations reflect the police’s dedication to enhancing security and restoring public confidence in Ogun State.
