Kaduna State Police Command has arrested six suspected kidnappers following the escape of a victim and intelligence from the public, leading to the dismantling of a criminal hideout in Ikara Local Government Area. The operation, carried out on Tuesday, was prompted by information from the escaped victim who reported his abduction and identified a house in Dogon Pako Village as his place of captivity. The residence belonged to Ja’e Samalu, a 65-year-old man, whose property was raided by police officers in collaboration with local vigilantes.
The Ikara Police Division swiftly mobilized its personnel after receiving the complaint. The coordinated raid resulted in the arrest of six suspects aged between 20 and 65. All individuals are currently in police custody as investigations continue to determine their specific roles in the kidnapping incident. Authorities are also working to apprehend other members of the criminal network believed to be involved.
In a statement issued by DSP Mansir Hassan, the State Police Public Relations Officer, the command praised the cooperation of the public and local vigilante groups for their crucial role in the successful operation. The Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Rabiu, commended the operatives for their swift response and urged residents to remain vigilant. He emphasized the importance of reporting suspicious persons, movements, or activities to the nearest police station without delay.
CP Rabiu also warned communities to be cautious of criminals using residential buildings as hideouts for kidnapped victims. He stressed that community vigilance and timely information-sharing are essential tools in preventing and dismantling criminal networks across the state. The police have assured the public that they will continue to intensify efforts to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes.
This latest development underscores the ongoing commitment of law enforcement agencies in Kaduna State to restore peace and security. With continued public cooperation, authorities aim to reduce crime rates and ensure safer neighborhoods for all residents.
