The Nigeria Police Force has arrested six suspected kidnappers linked to multiple abduction cases in Kaduna State, marking a significant breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping in the region. The arrests, made on April 3, 2026, were carried out by the Force Intelligence Department’s Special Tactical Squad during a coordinated operation. The suspects, identified as Yusuf Shuaibu (23), Abubakar Bature (19), Yau Murtala, Bello Suleiman (19), Abdul Kareem Nuhu (36), and Ahmed Musa (28), are believed to operate in Kaduna and surrounding areas, with ties to criminal camps in the Rijana Forest.
According to a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, on May 5, 2026, and shared on the official X account of the Nigeria Police Force, the group has been connected to several high-profile kidnapping incidents. One of the most notable cases involves the abduction of a senior police officer and his son in October 2025. Despite a ransom of N24 million being paid, the victims were not released until police operatives intervened. The officer’s son was successfully rescued unharmed, while efforts to locate and rescue the senior officer are still ongoing.
The suspects are also linked to another kidnapping case involving a young child and other family members. In that incident, the criminals reportedly collected N18 million in ransom before the victims were rescued. The police have confirmed that the suspects are part of a larger criminal syndicate, and operations are currently underway to apprehend other members, recover weapons, and rescue any remaining hostages.
The arrests come amid increasing concerns over rising kidnapping incidents in Kaduna State and the surrounding zones. The Nigeria Police Force has reiterated its commitment to ensuring public safety and bringing all perpetrators to justice. The statement emphasized that intelligence-driven operations remain a key strategy in dismantling criminal networks.
As investigations continue, authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. The successful rescue of victims and the arrest of these suspects are seen as crucial steps in curbing the menace of kidnapping in northern Nigeria. The police have assured the public that they will not relent in their efforts to restore peace and security to affected communities.
