Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has formally inaugurated a 52-member campaign committee to drive his re-election bid in the August 15 governorship election, expressing unwavering confidence in the team’s ability to secure victory. The event took place on Wednesday in Osogbo, the state capital, and was attended by key government officials, party leaders, and stakeholders. The committee, chaired by former National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wale Oladipo, is set to lead the campaign efforts across the state.
In his address, Governor Adeleke declared, “I am feeling the victory, the defeat of our opponents. This team is heading to victory. My spirit confirms our party is declared the winner with wide margins.” He drew parallels to his 2022 election campaign, emphasizing the same level of dedication and unity that brought him to power. “This is how we started in 2022. Today is the march to victory on August 15th,” he said, officially launching the Campaign Council for continuity and good governance.
The campaign structure includes prominent figures from politics, media, and entertainment. Senator Lere Oyewumi, Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, has been appointed Director General, while Kolapo Alimi, Osun State Commissioner for Information, serves as Deputy Director General. Pelumi Olajengbesi will act as spokesperson, and Bola Ajao will serve as secretary. Other notable members include Diran Odeyemi, National Treasurer of the PDP, Sunday Bisi, Osun PDP Chairman, and popular music star Davido.
The committee’s mandate is to coordinate all campaign activities, mobilize support, and ensure a strong voter turnout across Osun’s 30 local government areas. With a mix of experienced political operatives and influential public figures, the team is expected to leverage both grassroots mobilization and media outreach to strengthen Adeleke’s re-election campaign. The governor’s confidence underscores his belief in the party’s organizational strength and the people’s trust in his leadership.
As the election draws near, the campaign council will focus on highlighting achievements during Adeleke’s first term, including infrastructure development, education reforms, and economic initiatives. The committee’s launch marks a significant step in the official campaign period, setting the stage for intensified political activity in the coming weeks. With a well-structured team and a clear strategy, Governor Adeleke’s campaign aims to consolidate support and deliver a decisive win on election day.
