The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the provisional locations, venues, and dates for its passport intervention exercise in the United Kingdom, aimed at providing accessible and efficient passport services to Nigerians living abroad. The initiative, launched under the directive of Minister of Interior Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, follows the deployment of a dedicated passport intervention team from NIS Headquarters in Abuja. Akinsola Akinlabi, NIS Public Relations Officer and Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (DCI), disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja.
The intervention exercise will begin in London and Manchester from September 7 to September 19. In London, applicants can visit Layali Lounge located at Trent Park, Bramley Road, London N14 4UW. Meanwhile, in Manchester, the venue is Nigerian House, 23 Platt Lane, Manchester M14 5NE. The service will then extend to Aberdeen and Cardiff from September 21 to September 26. In Aberdeen, the event will be held at Hilton Convention Centre, 13 Smithfield Road, AB24 4NR, while Cardiff’s venue is Sophia Gardens, Sophia Walk, CF11 9XR.
The NIS emphasized that this outreach is designed to assist Nigerians with new passport applications, renewals, and the resolution of pending cases. Applicants are urged to use the official NIS passport application portal for both application submission and payment. This ensures transparency and reduces delays. At the designated venues, individuals must present a completed application form, a payment slip as proof of transaction, an appointment slip, and a self-addressed return envelope. For renewal applications, the current passport must also be presented.
Akinlabi stressed that cash payments will not be accepted at any of the intervention sites. All financial transactions must be processed through the official digital platform. He encouraged full cooperation with NIS officials to maintain order and efficiency during the exercise. The NIS reaffirmed that all digital passport application channels, including the contactless system, remain fully operational. Additionally, home delivery services are available for applicants who qualify.
