The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on Nigerians to actively participate in the ongoing Permanent Voter Card (PVC) registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 general elections. In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Osa Director, the NDC emphasized the critical role of voter registration in shaping Nigeria’s democratic future. The party also urged eligible voters to support its preferred presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in the upcoming election.
Osa Director described the PVC as the most powerful instrument for citizens to influence the country’s direction through the ballot box. He stressed that every Nigerian, especially young people and first-time voters, must seize the opportunity to register and collect their voter cards. “The PVC remains the most powerful instrument for every citizen to determine the future of Nigeria through the ballot box,” he stated, underscoring the importance of civic engagement.
The NDC spokesman highlighted that active participation in the electoral process is essential for meaningful change. He said the country needs citizens who are willing to take responsibility for their democracy and contribute to national development. According to him, voting is not just a right but a duty that can lead to transformation in governance, security, and economic growth.
Osa Director also called for national unity and collective action in building a New Nigeria. He envisioned a country where hope is restored to the hopeless, justice is upheld, opportunities are accessible to all, and good governance becomes the norm. He emphasized that this vision can only be achieved through informed and active voter participation.
The NDC reiterated its support for Peter Obi and Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as leaders with the vision, integrity, and capacity to lead Nigeria into a new era. The party believes that their leadership will address critical challenges facing the nation, including insecurity, unemployment, and corruption. The NDC remains committed to promoting credible leadership, national unity, and sustainable development.
As the 2027 elections draw closer, the NDC’s mobilization efforts aim to increase voter turnout and strengthen democratic participation. The party continues to engage communities across the country, encouraging citizens to register, collect their PVCs, and exercise their right to vote. With the electoral process already underway, the NDC’s message is clear: the future of Nigeria is in the hands of its voters. The coming years will determine whether Nigerians choose leaders who deliver on promises or continue to endure the status quo.
