NAF Conducts Airstrikes on Sambisa Terrorist Hideouts, Fighters Killed

The Nigerian Air Force has launched intensified counter-terrorism air strikes in Borno State, targeting terrorist hideouts within the Sambisa Forest axis as part of ongoing operations to dismantle insurgent networks in the North-East. The strikes, conducted on May 26, 2026, were carried out by air assets under the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, following intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance reports that pinpointed key enemy positions. The operation focused on Biramiri, a location within the Gezuwa area of Borno State, where terrorist camps and logistics structures were identified and subsequently destroyed.

Precision strikes were executed to minimize collateral damage while maximizing the impact on insurgent infrastructure. The Nigerian Air Force confirmed that the attacks successfully dismantled critical facilities used by Boko Haram and other terrorist elements for planning, training, and storing supplies. Several fighters were neutralized during the coordinated strikes, further weakening the operational strength of the insurgents in the region.

The military emphasized that these sustained air offensives have significantly disrupted the movement and logistics of terrorist groups operating within the Sambisa Forest. By targeting safe havens and supply lines, the Nigerian Air Force aims to limit the insurgents’ ability to launch attacks on civilian populations and military outposts. This strategic approach is part of a broader effort to restore security and stability in the North-East, where terrorism has persisted for over a decade.

The Nigerian Air Force’s statement highlighted that the operation is in line with the objectives of Operation HADIN KAI, which is designed to combat terrorism and insurgency through coordinated military action. The operation involves collaboration between the Air Force and other security agencies to maintain continuous pressure on terrorist networks. The destruction of key facilities and neutralization of fighters are seen as crucial steps in degrading the enemy’s capacity to wage war.

As the military continues to adapt its tactics to counter evolving threats, the use of aerial surveillance and precision strikes remains a cornerstone of the campaign. These efforts are expected to contribute to long-term peace and security in Borno State and the wider North-East region. The Nigerian Air Force remains committed to protecting civilians and ensuring that terrorist elements cannot regroup or reestablish control in liberated areas.
