Kama Wins Ohanivo APC Reps Primary in Ebonyi

Nkemanma Kama has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ohaozara, Onicha, and Ivo (Ohanivo) Federal Constituency in the forthcoming general election, following a successful party primary held in Ebonyi State. The incumbent lawmaker, who currently represents the constituency in the House of Representatives, secured his party’s nomination after a robust and well-attended primary process. His re-emergence as the APC standard-bearer signals continuity and strong party backing for the 2023 elections.

Speaking shortly after his victory, Kama expressed deep gratitude to party leaders, stakeholders, constituents, and Governor Dave Umahi for their unwavering support throughout the primary process. “I’m elated and very happy for being given another opportunity to serve my people,” he said, adding, “I thank God above all for this opportunity to serve again.” He emphasized that the turnout and mobilization during the primaries were just a preview of what to expect during the general election. “This is nothing compared to what will happen during the general election,” Kama stated confidently, describing the primary as “just a piece of cake” for the main event.

Kama assured voters that his second term in office would bring greater development, more job opportunities, and improved infrastructure to the Ohanivo Federal Constituency. He stressed the importance of retaining experienced lawmakers, noting that their influence in national decision-making is invaluable. “A ranking member is a ranking member; you can’t buy that in the market,” he remarked, highlighting the strategic advantage of seasoned representatives in securing federal projects and funding. He also commended Governor Umahi, a former lawmaker himself, for understanding the critical role of experienced legislators in driving development.

Ebonyi State Commissioner for Information, Communication, and Technology, Tochukwu Okorie, also spoke after the primaries, praising the massive turnout and patience of APC supporters who had waited since morning. “I align myself with the feelings of my people. When you look at the crowd and the fact that they have waited here since morning, it shows they are happy and satisfied with the party,” Okorie said. He dismissed concerns about opposition challenges, asserting that the APC remains firmly rooted in the hearts of the people.

The APC primaries in the Ohanivo Federal Constituency drew a large number of party faithful, underscoring strong grassroots support and setting the stage for a competitive general election. With Kama’s re-nomination, the constituency looks forward to continued representation and advocacy at the national level. His victory reinforces the APC’s position in Ebonyi and signals a determined push for electoral success in the upcoming polls.
