Hayatu Deen Rules Out Stepping Down in 2027 ADC Presidential Race

Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, presidential aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has declared that he will not withdraw from the race for the party’s 2027 presidential primaries, even in the face of strong competition from established figures like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister Rotimi Amaechi. In a firm statement, Hayatu-Deen emphasized that Nigeria’s current crisis demands competent and visionary leadership capable of reversing nearly two decades of economic decline, worsening insecurity, and widespread hardship. He argued that every eligible Nigerian has a constitutional right to seek elective office, and he intends to exercise that right fully.

Hayatu-Deen pointed to the period since 2007 as one marked by weak leadership, which he says has led to rampant inflation, soaring unemployment, deteriorating education and healthcare systems, and escalating insecurity across the country. He contrasted Nigeria’s struggles with countries like Rwanda and Ghana, which he noted have successfully recovered from crises through disciplined governance and long-term planning. “This is a very serious undertaking, and we are at a defining moment in our country’s history,” he stated, underscoring the urgency of the situation.

He believes his experience, ideas, and practical capacity position him uniquely to lead Nigeria toward prosperity and improved welfare for all citizens, regardless of region, ethnicity, or religion. Hayatu-Deen stressed that his campaign is not about personal ambition but about national renewal and inclusive development. He also addressed concerns about party unity, affirming his loyalty to the ADC and pledging full support to whoever emerges as the party’s presidential candidate.

“If I do not secure the ticket, I will stand behind the chosen candidate and work with the party to ensure victory at the polls,” he said, highlighting his commitment to party supremacy over individual ambition. He also encouraged opposition parties to consider strategic cooperation where possible to present credible alternatives to the ruling party, while still holding leaders accountable to the electorate. Hayatu-Deen added that democracy is about offering people real choices and that politicians must serve citizens, not themselves.

He further noted that widespread poverty and low political awareness have weakened Nigerians’ ability to hold leaders accountable, a situation that must change. As the 2027 elections approach, Hayatu-Deen’s message underscores a growing call for leadership rooted in integrity, competence, and a genuine commitment to national transformation. His candidacy represents a push for a new political direction in Nigeria, one that prioritizes the people’s welfare above all else.
