Gov Yusuf Defends Garo as Deputy, Highlights Experience and Commitment to Kano Development

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has announced the appointment of Murtala Sule Garo as the new Deputy Governor, citing his proven experience and dedication to the state’s development as key reasons for the selection. The announcement was made during the 39th Executive Council meeting held at the Government House in Kano, where the governor emphasized that Garo was chosen after a thorough evaluation of several candidates. Yusuf stated that the decision was based on Garo’s past performance, professional competence, and demonstrated ability to contribute meaningfully to Kano’s growth and progress.

The governor explained that the state government needed a deputy governor who could effectively support its ongoing development agenda and work closely with the executive to deliver results. Garo’s name was submitted to the Kano State House of Assembly following the resignation of the previous deputy governor, Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo. The Assembly swiftly screened and confirmed Garo’s nomination, a process that the governor commended as efficient and timely.

In his statement released by spokesperson Mustapha Muhammad, Yusuf expressed appreciation to the lawmakers, particularly Speaker Jibril Ismail Falgore, for their prompt action in approving the nomination. He assured the public that Garo would be sworn in shortly and urged citizens to support him in carrying out his duties with integrity and dedication. The governor also took the opportunity to congratulate Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota on her appointment as the new Head of Service.

Yusuf highlighted Maimota’s previous contributions to the civil service, noting her track record of effective leadership and commitment to public service. He called on civil servants and other stakeholders to support her in her new role to ensure smooth governance and improved service delivery across the state. The appointments come at a critical time as Kano State continues to implement key development projects and strengthen its administrative framework.

With Garo’s appointment, the state government aims to maintain continuity in policy execution and enhance coordination between the executive and legislative arms. The swift confirmation by the Assembly reflects a spirit of cooperation and shared purpose in advancing Kano’s development goals. As the new deputy governor prepares for his official swearing-in, expectations are high for his role in supporting the governor’s vision for a prosperous and well-governed Kano.
