The incident occurred on Monday, 20th April 2026, around 9:00 am, when a trailer carrying cartons of milk and passengers from Lagos to Kano encountered a traffic obstruction on the highway. In an attempt to bypass the congestion, the driver diverted the vehicle onto a nearby bush path, a decision that led to a fatal collision with high-voltage power cables.
