Benue PDP Disowns Emmanuel Agbo, Reaffirms Aondoakaa as Governorship Candidate

The Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially distanced itself from Dr. Emmanuel Agbo, branding him an impostor and political con artist after he falsely claimed to be the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 elections. The party issued a strong statement condemning Agbo’s actions, particularly after he circulated what it described as a fake Certificate of Return on social media to support his fraudulent claim. The PDP emphasized that Agbo has never been recognized as its candidate and that any attempt to present him as such is a deliberate act of deception.

In a statement released by the party’s State Secretary, Comrade Dan Nyikwagh, the PDP made it clear that Agbo’s claims are baseless and designed to mislead the public. The party warned that any media outlet, social media user, or individual promoting Agbo as its candidate is contributing to a fraudulent narrative. “Emmanuel Agbo is an imposter and a political con artist peddling and sponsoring fake news for selfish and mischievous reasons,” the statement declared, underscoring the seriousness of the situation.

The PDP reaffirmed that Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa (SAN) is its legitimate and duly affirmed governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections. Aondoakaa’s emergence, according to the party, followed a transparent and unanimous consensus process that involved party leaders, stakeholders, and members across Benue State. The process was also monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), adding credibility to the selection.

The party highlighted that Aondoakaa’s candidacy reflects the collective will of the PDP in Benue and enjoys broad-based support within the state. It stressed that the party will not tolerate any actions that threaten internal unity or create confusion among its members and the public. Legal and constitutional actions have already been initiated against Agbo and others allegedly involved in the impersonation scheme.

The PDP warned that impersonating a party candidate is a serious offence and that the full weight of the law will be applied to anyone found guilty of such criminal conduct. It urged security agencies, media organizations, and residents of Benue State to remain vigilant and reject any narrative that portrays Emmanuel Agbo as the PDP’s governorship candidate. The party reiterated its commitment to rebuilding Benue State under the leadership of Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN, and called on all stakeholders to support this vision. As the 2027 elections approach, the PDP is determined to maintain its integrity and ensure a fair and transparent political process.
