Aisha Yesufu, prominent Nigerian activist and political leader, has urged her supporters, known as ‘Supporters of Aisha Yesufu’ (SAY Nation), to rally behind the presidential candidates of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) — Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso — in the upcoming 2027 general elections. The call was made during a strategic outreach in Abuja on Wednesday, following her recent exclusion from the NDC’s FCT Senatorial District ticket race. The event covered several area councils in the Federal Capital Territory, including Bwari, AMAC, Kuje, Kwali, Abaji, and Gwagwalada, where Yesufu met with party members, stakeholders, and grassroots supporters.
Yesufu, who had expressed interest in contesting for the NDC’s FCT senatorial seat, used the outreach to express gratitude for the continued loyalty and commitment shown by her supporters throughout her political journey. She acknowledged the disappointment and frustration felt by many in SAY Nation over the party’s internal decision that barred her from the senatorial ticket contest. Despite this setback, she emphasized that the collective struggle for a better Nigeria must continue, urging her followers not to lose faith in the broader movement for change.
She described the outreach as part of an ongoing series of consultations across the FCT, aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilization and sustaining momentum for political transformation. “The quest for good governance transcends individual political ambitions,” Yesufu declared, reinforcing her belief that national progress should remain the central focus. She called on supporters to channel their energy into building a stronger, more inclusive political movement that aligns with the vision of transformative leadership.
Yesufu specifically charged SAY Nation and other NDC supporters to remain united, resilient, and committed to backing Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in the 2027 presidential race. She expressed confidence in Nigeria’s future, stating that collective action, perseverance, and faith would ultimately lead to a better nation. “Nigeria will be OK,” she assured her supporters, a phrase that has become a rallying cry for her movement.
During the event, supporters echoed her sentiments, reaffirming their solidarity and commitment to the ideals of the political movement. Many noted that the outreach provided much-needed reassurance and renewed hope, even amid recent political challenges. The gathering underscored the enduring influence of Yesufu’s grassroots network and her ability to mobilize support across the FCT.
As Nigeria prepares for the 2027 elections, Yesufu’s call to action signals a shift in focus from personal political aspirations to national leadership, positioning her movement as a key force in shaping the country’s political future.
