Bauchi State Police Command has arrested Abdulrazak Sale Kundang, the principal suspect in the alleged murder of 46-year-old Rilwanu Dauda in Karofin Madaki, following a three-month manhunt. The arrest took place on October 5, 2026, exactly three months after the violent incident that shocked residents of the area. According to police, Dauda was attacked and allegedly stabbed with a knife by Sale and members of his gang on July 5, 2026, at around 9:30 am. The victim was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi, where he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor at approximately 11 am the same day.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu. The statement revealed that the arrest came after crucial information was provided by a Good Samaritan who tipped off law enforcement authorities. This breakthrough allowed operatives to locate and apprehend Sale, bringing closure to an investigation that had been ongoing since the tragic incident.
Police also disclosed that the suspects had previously been linked to another politically motivated murder in the same area before vanishing from public view. This new arrest is seen as a significant step in addressing recurring security concerns in Karofin Madaki, where violent crimes have increasingly drawn public attention. Authorities are now intensifying efforts to track down and apprehend the remaining suspects still at large.
Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu commended the officers involved in the successful operation and emphasized the need for a thorough investigation before charging the suspect to court. He reiterated the command’s commitment to justice, warning that “no criminal will have a hiding place in Bauchi State.” His statement underscores the police’s determination to restore public confidence and ensure accountability for all acts of violence.
The case has sparked discussions across Bauchi State about crime prevention and community cooperation in reporting suspicious activities. With the arrest of the main suspect, residents hope for improved safety and swift justice. As investigations continue, authorities remain vigilant, urging citizens to support law enforcement through timely information sharing. The outcome of this case may set a precedent for how similar incidents are handled in the future, reinforcing the message that no act of violence will go unpunished in Bauchi.
