Troops Intercept Suspected Boko Haram Suppliers, Seize Food and Medicines in Borno

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have successfully intercepted suspected Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) logistics suppliers in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State, recovering vital supplies including food items, veterinary medicines, and transportation equipment. The operation, conducted on Tuesday afternoon, was part of routine farm protection patrols carried out by soldiers from the 19 Battalion (Motorised) in coordination with the 25 Brigade Garrison. Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed the incident in a post shared on X late Wednesday night, providing details of the encounter and the items seized.

The interception occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. along Kauji Road in Damboa, a region frequently targeted by insurgent groups for supply routes. According to Makama, military personnel spotted two individuals believed to be terrorist logistics suppliers. The suspects, upon noticing the approaching troops, abandoned their bicycles and the cargo they were transporting before fleeing into the dense bush surrounding the area. Despite an immediate pursuit, the suspects managed to evade capture and disappeared into the thick vegetation.

Among the recovered items were two bicycles, five cartons of energy drinks, one carton of milk, one carton of soft drinks, two cartons of veterinary medicines, and a blue canopy. These supplies are considered critical for sustaining insurgent operations, particularly in remote and underdeveloped regions where access to basic goods is limited. The veterinary medicines, in particular, suggest efforts to maintain livestock used for transportation or sustenance by the terrorist groups.

Security sources cited in Makama’s post confirmed that all recovered materials have been secured under military custody for further investigation. Authorities are likely to analyze the items for intelligence purposes, including identifying supply chains, potential accomplices, and movement patterns of the insurgents. The operation underscores the ongoing efforts by Nigerian military forces to disrupt logistical networks that support terrorist activities in the Northeast.

This incident highlights the persistent threat posed by Boko Haram and ISWAP, even as security forces intensify patrols and surveillance in vulnerable communities. The recovery of such supplies demonstrates the effectiveness of coordinated military operations in intercepting enemy logistics before they can reach their intended destinations. As the military continues to strengthen its presence in Borno State, the interception serves as a reminder of the complex challenges in the fight against insurgency.

The success of this operation may lead to further intelligence breakthroughs, potentially disrupting future attacks and supply routes. With continued vigilance and strategic operations, security forces aim to reduce the operational capacity of terrorist groups in the region.
