A cross-party alliance of political stakeholders from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State has united to support Chukwudi Oli, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for the House of Representatives seat in the Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia Federal Constituency. The coalition, which held a consultative meeting on Tuesday at Oli’s campaign office in Abagana, declared its full backing for Oli, emphasizing unity over party affiliation in pursuit of better representation for the region.
The group, comprising leaders from various political parties, stated that after thorough deliberation, they concluded that Oli is the most suitable candidate to champion the interests of the federal constituency in the National Assembly. They highlighted his proven dedication to community development and his commitment to public service as key reasons for their decision. Speaking on behalf of the coalition, Ozo Ejiamatu, the group’s leader, stressed that their support for Oli is not partisan but rooted in a shared desire for progress and accountability.
Ejiamatu said, “We are convinced that by supporting you, we are working for ourselves. We know that you are going to work for the progress of the DNA (Dunukofia/Njikoka/Anaocha Federal Constituency) when you get to the House of Representatives.” He added that the group does not want to see selfish politicians who have historically misled the people win again, calling for a new era of honest leadership.
Mr. Onyenechi Ezeaso, the coalition’s chairman, echoed similar sentiments, noting Oli’s passion for development and his humanitarian values as compelling reasons for their endorsement. The gathering was marked by speeches from various party leaders in the area, all expressing confidence in Oli’s ability to deliver for the people.
In response, Chukwudi Oli expressed deep gratitude for the trust placed in him by the coalition. He reaffirmed his political philosophy centered on accountability, transparency, togetherness, and touching lives. Oli pledged that if elected, he would not use his position for personal gain but would focus entirely on the development of the federal constituency, trusting in divine reward for his service.
This unprecedented cross-party support underscores a growing demand for change and integrity in Nigerian politics, particularly in Anambra State. As the 2023 general elections approach, the alliance’s backing of Oli may influence voter sentiment and reshape political dynamics in the Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia constituency. The move signals a shift toward issue-based politics over party loyalty, setting a precedent for future electoral engagements in the region.
